Is renter's insurance required for tenants in california?

Even if it isn't required, it is still a very good idea. I have always had coverage. If some idiot next door starts a fire, and you lose all your stuff, you'll have no way to replace all of that quickly. It will take a longer than you want it to. Landlord's property insurance does NOT cover your belongings.

Renters insurance is cheap and if you have to replace your furniture and clothing and CD's etc., it's well worth the few dollars a month.

its required everywhere. I live in a suburb in Michigan, its only 10 bucks a month. Most car insurance companies offer it. mine is through State Farm.

Its also in your best interest to have renters insurance in case of fire or other disaster....

No, it's not required in California. But if you're a tenant and you have valuable items, I would suggest that you get it.

Regards

No, but a good Idea.
